Here is another drawing along the lines of my recent experiments. I am not sure if this is finished or not but something tells me it is time to let go of this one. More often than not the harder I try and the longer I work on a piece the less I like the illustration. This one came together very quickly without a lot of thought so I am going to leave it that way--even though, as always, I see some things I'd like to improve.
Thanks again to Sophie Jodoin for the style inspiration and thanks Peter for being a willing subject!

Version 2

Here is a second version of an earlier drawing that I wasn't happy with (you may need to blow it up to get the full effect). The last one got far too muddled. In my mind it was somehow both too hard edged and too soft at the same time--not sure how I managed that but I didn't like what I ended up with. So I threw all the layers away, except the base sketch, and began again.
It is clearly a Sophie Jodoin rip off--but like I've heard many times, only steal from the best. Her work is really fantastic, it was a great exercise to try to mimic her style. Although I fell far short of her level of subtlety, I like this version a lot better...maybe I can finally move on and start something new!
